Packaging Recovery NotesEvidence secured by TODDPAK to prove that the packaging obligations of its members have been satisfied
Packaging Recovery Notes are issued by accredited reprocessors and exporters of waste packaging. Reporcessors take waste packaging and turn it back into raw material suitable for making further products. This may be packaging or a new product altogether. 1 tonne of evidence can be issued against 1 tonne of waste packaging being reprocessed.
The accreditation is administered by the Environment Agency in England and Wales, SEPA in Scotland or the Northern Ireland Environment Agency.
From the 1st of February 2007 accredited reprocessors and exporters have issued electronic packaging waste recovery notes (ePRNs) and electronic packaging waste export recovery notes (ePERNs) by using the National Packaging Waste Database (NPWD).
EPRNs and ePERNs are the only valid evidence of recovery and recycling which producers and compliance schemes will be able to use under the packaging waste regulations.
